The ball screw drive is an assembly that converts rotary motion to linear motion (or vice versa). It consists of a ball screw and a ball nut packaged as an assembly with recirculating balls. The interface between the ball screw and the nut is made by balls which roll in matching ball forms. With rolling elements, the ball screw drive has a low

Inertia is relatively simple to calculate. For a point mass, it’s simply the mass of the object multiplied by the square of its distance from the axis of rotation: I = mass moment of inertia (kgm2) m = mass (kg) r = radius, or distance from axis of rotation (m) Image credit: brilliant. The inertia of a ball or lead screw can be

Am I reading correctly that the ball screw upgrade adds $639 to the cost of the machine?! (CRER $1211, 5019CRER $1850)
Precision ground ballscrews are only of value in CNC applications with stepper drives or open loop control. Closed loop CNC's with glass/magnetic scales do not need Precision screws for accuracy, but may need it for preload control. Having a DRO on a manual makes "precision" a nonevent for leadscrews.
The term ball screw is used to describe a drive element for the conversion of a rotary motion into an axial motion and vice versa. A ball screw consists of a ball screw shaft, a ball screw nut featuring a ball return and the balls themselves. The balls, which roll between the screw shaft and the nut, offer optimum levels of efficiency (up to 98%).

A ball screw assembly is a mechanical device for translating rotational motion to linear motion. It consists of a precision ball screw and a ball nut packaged as an assembly with recirculating ball bearings. The interface between the ball screw and the nut is made by ball bearings, which roll in matching ball forms.

Ball screws use rolling and recirculating ball bearings in the ball grooves in the screw and the nut. Lead screws have deeper helical threads in the screw shaft and a matching nut that slides with each other.

The guy from this link RF31 Mill CNC — Baka Mecha looks like he used 25mm size screws and they were a little big for the amount of space in the Xaxis. The nut needed to be ground off a little as shown in the picture below. Attachment 258452. I'm not familiar with the type of flange style ball screw nut he is using.
